Significant historical and cultural mark of the era, the Holy Monastery
Thematon, that is set in a mountainous location and bright green scenery
constitutes a pole of attraction for the tourists. It was built in 1100 A.C. in a forest
and it then had 42 monks. In 1953 it was destroyed by the earthquakes and it was built
again in 1970.
Opposite to our hotel, a mosaic floor of a Roman villa was
found or an ex floor of the church of Aghia Efimia. Only one km away from Makriotika, in
Palatia, you can see the remnants of the Kiklopia walls.
The management of our hotel will be willing to inform you about the sights of the
region. See more about the sights of Kefalonia: www.kefalonia.info.
